To convert iPhone photos into .jpg you need to use WALTR HEIC Converter. After the conversion, you will turn them into a JPEG picture format which is widely accepted.
If you have a picture that you want to change to JPG, then you can simple change the extension or – if it's a HEIC format, then you'll need to use the free WALTR HEIC converter.
If you have iOS 11 or above then by default, your iPhone will take photos in HEIC format. You can change it into JPG by going into Settings>Camera and change the format. If you are using a device with iOS 11 or below, then you have nothing to worry about.

This is an extension of the HEIF format. The abbreviation stands for High Efficiency Image Format. It's still relatively new and not yet as popular as PNG or JPG (but it's getting there). Right-now, Apple is making a huge step forward towards making HEIC popular amongst its users. With the release of iOS 11, the default format in which photos are taken with the iPhone camera will be in this exact format.
In short – yes. If you compare it to the widely-popular (but old) JPG format, then HEIC is much better in terms of quality and doesn't take up so much space. Best of all – it does not compress the picture unlike jpeg.
