You: I just found new awesome ringtone. I need to add it to my iPhone right now.
iTunes: Lol. Not so fast!

Apple just released a new 12.7 update. This time it brings many changes! iTunes is now easier to navigate and less cluttered. But there’s also no App Store and you can’t browse your ebooks, iOS apps and ringtones in iTunes.

Nice try, Apple, nice try. But how can we even add ringtones to iPhone?

Well – now it’s more confusing than ever before. In iTunes 12.7 you can’t purchase ringtones or add them to your library. You also have to to connect your iPhone every time you want to sync ringtones to your device.

OK, sit back and relax, this guide will help you add all your precious ringtones to your iPhone – even faster than before.

#1. Add ringtones to iPhone WITHOUT iTunes

Here at the lab of Softorino we crafted an insanely easy solution to put any media on an iPhone. This is a class MacOS & Windows application – WALTR 2, that transfers any ringtone, movie or audio to your Apple device. WALTR is exceptionally easy to use. Why?

it’s a simple drop zone.

All you need to do is to drag any video into WALTR and instantly it will appear on your  Apple device. WALTR 2 also accepts all the other video and music formats that your iPhone won’t play back otherwise. And there are quite a bunch of them: AVI, MKV, WMA, FLAC, APE, CUE, etc.

You can download WALTR 2 right now by clicking the button below. It’s free to download and use for 24 hours, so you can try before you buy. 🙂

#2 How to Add Ringtones to iPhone using iTunes

New iTunes update sparks some good tendency. Clearly, Apple finally is trying to “unclutter” the huge monster iTunes is. The application becomes more organized, but there’s still a lot to improve.

BEFORE:

AFTER:

iTunes U was moved into Podcast section, while Internet Radio stations are now in your music library’s sidebar. Nevertheless, the biggest surprise is that the iOS App Store disappeared from iTunes now.

Goodbye iOS App Store, you won’t be missed. At least you can always download apps directly on your iPhone. But now it’s even more CONFUSING to add ringtones to iPhone since you can’t even browse them through iTunes.

The ringtones that were in your iTunes library before are safe. Now they are in iTunes media library on your Mac or PC.  However, you can’t view them through iTunes library. Nevertheless, you still can transfer them to your iPhone or even create a new one. Follow the steps below to add a ringtone to iPhone:

  1. Connect your iPhone.
  2. Make sure to check “Manually sync files to iPhone” in your device’s tab.
  3. Locate the m4r ringtone that you want to transfer to your device.
  4. Drag the ringtone from your computer to iPhone in the left sidebar of iTunes
  5. Go into Settings>Tones and select your ringtone.

From now on you always have to plug in iPhone in your computer, whenever you need to transfer a ringtone to iPhone. There’s also no option to add ringtones to your iTunes library and have it there.

Bottom Line

Apple is finally and slowly trying to make iTunes less cluttered. There’s still a big room for improvement but the first step is done. Anyhoo, you can add custom ringtones to iPhone using alternative ways – even faster than before!

iTunes 12.7 focuses on music more than ever before. It also dumps iOS App Store, so you no longer can browse iOS apps on a desktop.

Besides this, iTunes makes it harder to add ringtones to your iPhone.  However, you still can sync your tones by dropping them directly to the iPhone’s sidebar in iTunes.

Alternatively, you may use WALTR 2, that’s stays as simple as possible. It accepts any ringtone, music, video, PDF & ePub and sends it on your iPhone or iPad immediately.
