Long story short:

Now there exists a trouble-free way to manually add music to iPhone without iTunes. Watch this short screencast video to get a better understanding of what it’s all about:

Time is flowing, but some things always remain the same. Like adding music to iPhone with iTunes. Somehow this was a hurdle for iPhone users since the beginning of the world.

If we close our eyes on the fact that iTunes can often be too slow or can suddenly collapse out of the blue (on Windows especially), the transferring process is still not clear or easy to follow. Besides, there’s a loooooong list of all the formats that still are not covered by iTunes, this means your iPhone can not even play it by default.

While Apple does not show any attempt of resolving the issue, a team of indie developers over at Softorino came up with the most straightforward way ever to add music files to iPhone without iTunes or any other third party apps involved in the game. The whole procedure can’t be easier – you just drop the file and then you have it added on your iPhone. The best part – you can do this via WiFI no cables required.

How to Add Music to iPhone without Syncing:

Before you start transferring music to your iPhone, make sure you installed WALTR 2 on your machine. It works on both Mac and Windows operational systems.

Step #1. Download WALTR 2.

It’s 10000 % safe and it doesn’t cost a dime to try this out.

Step # 2. Connect your device to your PC/Mac with USB.

However, ironically, to enable WIFI connectivity you still need to plug in your iPhone into your computer. If you wish to add music to your iPhone cable-free, then click on the gear in the bottom of the application and check ‘Enable WIFI Connectivity’.

In this tutorial we’ll be using WALTR 2 for Mac to add music on iPhone without iTunes. Be sure, besides music it also helps you transfer videos to iPad, iPhone or iPod.

Step #3. Drag your files into WALTR to add music to iPhone.

In this case, we just drop the whole folder with Radiohead album ‘The Moon Shaped Box’. And guess what – it’s gonna transfer it right away literally taking seconds.

Then you’ll get this ‘DONE’ message once the progress bar fills up. This is the green light for you, my friend. WALTR 2 just added music files to your iPhone, so head to your default Music app and look for your songs there.

That’s it! Your music is now available in your native Music.app for playback. Instead of tons of converting settings, all you need to do is to DRAG your files…and Drop them to add music to iPhone without iTunes.

As you perhaps noticed – the files are transferred to the pre-installed Apple Videos/Music apps. As if you transferred ’em with iTunes. Frankly speaking, WALTR is what iTunes was supposed to be in the first place.

If you watched the screencast video above, you perhaps noticed – it’s about transferring FLAC music files. And they aren’t supported by iTunes.

WALTR covers almost all media formats you could possibly find on the web. This involves: AVI, MKV, MP4, WMA, FLAC, MP3, ALAC, M4A, APE and many others.

While usually, you would need to use a separate video converter for every file extension, and then use iTunes, WALTR does all this for you.

Now once again the round-up of all compelling WALTR features:

  • Simplicity. It’s just a drop-zone. No countless tabs, no converting settings.
  • Support of non-compatible formats: MKV, AVI, FLAC, APE, WMA, CUE and tons of others.
  • Speed. The average transferring speed is 2GB per one minute.
  • Transfer music from PC to iPad without iTunes!
  • Your files will land inside of your native Videos/Music. apps.
  • WALTR 2 introduces support for all the iPods ever released by Apple. You can simply add music to them just as seamlessly as to iPhone.

Instead of a hair-pulling process of converting and iTunes syncing, you can easily add music to iPhone without syncing with iTunes.

With the help of this app, you can turn your iPhone/iPad into a perfect device with 100% functionality. It’s not a secret, that watching videos and listening to music regardless of its format settings is a big advantage and certainly a useful feature, that iOS devices usually lack.

WALTR 2 also supports any Apple iPod ever created. Currently, this is the easiest way to put music on iPod without iTunes. You also don’t need any additional converting software, because WALTR accepts all the audio and music formats you can find on the web.

So, don’t hesitate and test WALTR yourself!

The music does appear in the native Iphone library. BUT you cannot put it into a playlist. the music does not stay, it disappears making it useless. Also, my library is not synching with the cloud. so you still have work to do.

I am running an iphone 10.

    Please advise

Hi Bryan, sorry for the late reply. By any chance – do you have ‘Automatic sync’ switched on in iTunes?

If so, could you please uncheck it? Because iTunes automatically wipes out all content that it considers ‘foreign’.

What verions of iOS does this work with. I tried another transfer tool for my old iPhone 3G and it won’t work because their software won’t work with iOS 4.x

Hi Steven. Thanks for stopping by.

WALTR requires at least iOS 6 for it to work well.
